Welcome To Our New Website!!

Welcome to our new website! The phrase “new” always cracks me up because when it comes to candles, I’m anything but “new”. Here’s a sort of expansion of the info on our Company page.

I began pouring while my two children were little (Circa 1993). My sister joined in with candlemaking as well. We started as Three Blessings, which was my two and her one “blessing”. As we added blessings, we changed the name of our business to Four Blessings then Five Blessings. When we franchised our shop we needed to trademark our name. Five Blessings was already taken and we landed with the name 5B&Co.

You may remember 5B&Co. as a teeny tiny candle shop in Weston, MO. Although we no longer have a storefront in Weston, we’ve branched out into e-commerce. Order our amazing scents (candles, melts and room sprays) online and we’ll deliver them right to your door! If you’re a company, you can private-label your own candles with us. I can hardly imagine a better corporate gift!

The More Things Change…

When we began making candles, there wasn’t the World Wide Web so it was a huge experiment with many failures along the way. Thankfully, because I wasn’t taught the way everybody else does it, our candles are very unique. The burn is clean and long lasting. The scent throw is AMAZING. The most common feedback I hear from folks is they can’t believe how much that little votive smells and lasts so long! And they’re right, sometimes it shocks even me!

The fragrances we use are blended in house to come up with our very unique scents. All of the fragrance is phthalate free. This is a big deal. Phthalates disrupt hormones in humans and furry friends. Our wicks have a cardboard core. Our wax is a clean burning soy blend. All of our container candles go thru a process called annealing. That insures the upcycled vessel is able to withstand the heat of the flame. Many people pour candles in recycled bottles that are not made for candles (especially beer bottles). This is a dangerous practice. Which brings me to beer....

Exclusive Candlemaker for Boulevard Brewing

About three years ago, I was commissioned by Boulevard Brewery to make their brew candles. This has probably been my favorite project thus far! My husband is a brew aficianado and loves helping me out with the tasting (oops! I mean testing). We are the only candlemaker allowed to use BLVD’s artwork and name. It’s an honor I don’t take lightly!

Years ago a customer brought me a paper cut out from a magazine that said “the moment you light a candle, even a rotten day can disappear”. I have found that to be amazingly true. Candles have been a huge part of my entire adult life. They (in a super weird way) have taught me about humility, forgiveness, and grace. My now adult children (and nieces and nephew) learned so many life lessons growing up with a small business. Elton John talks about when he writes music it’s almost a Divine process. I have definitely found this to be true in candlemaking. I actually get goosebumps when I’ve blended the perfect scent or come up with the perfect name. When I get those warm and fuzzies, I love to pass them on to others.

All right, enough with the sappiness! To my 5B&Co faithfuls and those who are just now finding us, thank you for stopping by! And always remember life’s too short to burn crappy candles! 😉
